Nice & Quiet Weekend at camp:)

We spent the weekend at camp:) I had to work Saturday morning so we went up in the afternoon and stayed until after dinner last night. It was beautiful weather for camp and it was just Brett, Lexie, Jason and I. The kids only fought a little and we had a pretty nice time. Jason's mom, dad and oldest brother came up Sunday afternoon. I made Shepard's pie for dinner and I baked homemade bread:) Plus some yummy cinnamon rolls to go with breakfast:)

Yesterday, the kids and I (and 3 of the dogs) went for a walk in the woods. There are lots of trails from the 4-wheelers:) I got some nice pics of the kids:)

First day of school!!

Well, Brett is off to 6th grade and Lexie is off to 5th:) I'm hoping everything goes well for them both today!!! Brett dreamed about school last night;) He didn't say had nightmares, so I'm taking that as excitement;) Lexie had a hard time sleeping and told me she was so nervous about school that her feet were shaking while she was putting on her shoes this morning:) I can't wait until they get home so I can hear all about it!!!

I had to pick up some Rosin for Brett's cello bow today:) Good thing he didn't need to carry his cello to school today!! Their backpacks were pretty full and I made them take some things out of them - they don't have to bring everything the very first day!!!

Anyway, we spent lots of time up at camp this past weekend:) Lexie spent Saturday & Sunday night - Brett didn't (Shocker!!) He's just not a camp boy - unless Taylor is there;) Taylor was at the Off-Road races in Crandon, WI, though, so Brett was bored:( Lexie played with Spencer alot;)

I would post pictures, but Lexie put her phone in my bag instead of her camera!! silly girl - she keeps her phone in her camera case:)

Well, I guess I will have to let you know tomorrow how their first day went:)

Fair 2011 update:)

Well, as you can see from the pictures I posted, Fair 2011 was great fun:) It was kinda hot and I spent too much money which isn't unusual:( But the kids definitely got their money's worth with their wrist bands:) We were there from about 1:15 - 11:15:) I've got a little sunburn but not too bad:)

The kids did fight, but what else is new with those two?? We skipped the cotton candy this year. We did get an elephant ear but Jason, Lexie, and I didn't even eat the whole thing ourselves!!! Lexie & I enjoyed a corndog and we had some awesome lemonade at Charlie's food stand!! Best I ever had!!! Lexie got a dress & belt there which I will have to have her model so I can show you:)

Brett wanted to go with us to the concert which was Warrant, Skid Row and another band I don't know but it was too loud for them so I let them go back on the rides. They both ran into a friend or two so they hung out with them for a bit:) Brett figures that when he's 15 then he'll be old enough to walk around the fair with his friends all by himself because kids act stupid when their parents aren't around!! Yeah - that came out of his mouth!! Apparently he NEVER acts like an idiot when his friends are around - right, I totally believe that!!!

Anyway, we had a great day:) I wish everyday could be spent doing fun things with the kids (and Jason).

My kids are slackers!!! They haven't been writing in their journals at all:( So sorry about not having much to say. There's not been too much going on - Lexie loves being 10. She has taken over my mountain bike which is still alittle too big for her - she falls down at least once every time we go for a walk down the trail!!! That's my girl!! She starts back at dance the week of the 8th of September and she's very excited about that:) She's not too happy that the wind/rain storm we had last Saturday night blew the trampoline all over the yard and it bent the frame. Jay said he might be able to fix it, but once the frame is bent, it will be weak:( It (the trampoline) also took down the clothes line (which Lexie is happy about) and the door frame for the garden:( What a bummer!! If the garage hadn't been there, it would have been across the road:(

Lexie has recently learned how to hang clothes up on the line, but she doesn't like doing it!! That's why she's happy the clothes line is temporarily out of commission - daddy will be fixing it soon:)

The new porch is pretty much finished:) Jason is going to make some new steps and rails, but the new door and screen door are up as well as some cedar siding just in the porch area. Jason cut the cedar off our property and planed it himself:) I am so lucky to have such a handy husband:) It looks really nice:) As soon as I get a chance, I will take some pics and post them:) My beautiful hanging basket adds to it as well as the American flag Jason insisted on having;) My friend, Chrysta, gave us the basket:) She's wonderful:)

Brett hasn't been up to much:( He doesn't feel the need to participate in anything:( He gets excited about so few things these days:( He's just so content, I guess. He enjoys being himself:) Lexie has to beg him to go for bike rides with her:( I really don't like her going by herself - she forgets sometimes that he is older than her and she's only 10. I'm pretty sure she thinks she's 14 and she should be able to do whatever she wants:)

I've been taking walks down the trail again - it's still pretty hot, but if I wait for the weather, I'll never get going:( I make the kids go with me. They've been taking their bikes - well, Lexie's been taking mine. Anyway, we fill up our water bottles and usually we go 30 minutes down and back - so 1 hour total:) The kids don't usually make it that far - after about 20 minutes they are asking me how long until we turn around;) I told them that it is important to get exercise so they need to come with me:) I thought it was important to do it together:)

We went to town yesterday and Lexie spent alittle more of her birthday money - she bought a new hula hoop:) She's all about staying busy;)

Brett has band camp soon - the week before my sister, Casey's, wedding. He will be learning to play the cello - I'm really hoping he likes it and sticks with it - like I said, if it's not Legos, video games, or something funny he's not interested:( Well, I can't change him even though sometimes it drives me crazy!!

That's all I've got for now - I gotta go look for a couple recipes:) Oh, that reminds me - Lexie has been bugging me to go to the Farmer's Market. Well, we went yesterday:) We had fun, believe it or not:) Brett, naturally, stayed in the car:( Anyway, Lexie & I got some zucchini, cucumbers, carrots, blueberries, cherries, and tomatoes:) She also got a free sample of an apricot and some kettle corn - both of which she loved!! She asked if we could get some next time;) My baby girl loves fruits and veggies:) Not that she doesn't like junk, too - she does - she wanted some cookies they were selling, too:)

Well, I was hoping to have tons of pics from this weekend to put on their blog, however our plans changed:( We had something else come up on Saturday, so we didn't make it out to my grandma's:( We will have to see if another day will work better:) I guess it was too hot on Sunday to go to camp so we stayed home & just went to my MIL's for dinner:) We did go to Jason's family reunion on the 4th of July, but Lexie & I had dead batteries in our cameras and Brett could not find his:( Sorry!!

They did have lots of fun playing in the water and seeing their cousins again:) Brett was pretty bummed when Taylor left since he was the only boy close to Brett's age to play with since Dylan was with his other grandparents:( Lexie was happy to have her cousin, Zadie, all to herself:) She's 13 so they don't get much time together:(

Anyway, we did have a pretty nice weekend, but it was aliitle too warm at times:( Oh, well - at least it was sunny:)

My, June sure went by fast!!! Drat!

Well, not too much going on the past few days - the kids and I have gone on a few walks:) Lexie complains everytime that we walk too far!!! Brett doesn't complain at all - he LOVES to go for walks:)

Brett & Lexie are both with grandma Wanda this afternoon:) Lexie is supposed to help her clean the upstairs, I think:) I'm sure Brett won't be too much help!

We planted a little more in the garden last night - more green peppers, tomatoes, onion bulbs and lettuce:) Brett really likes to plant, but he barely eats the veggies:( Lexie's job was to pull a couple weeds but she wasn't too thrilled with that!! She's also learning to hang clothes out on the line, but I did bedding yesterday and she wasn't too good at hanging blankets or sheets out:( She'll learn:) I just wish she wouldn't cry everytime she couldn't do something:( It's very exasperating!! I"ve told her numerous times that if she needs help, she should just ask instead of crying about it - but it stiill hasn't sunk in:(

Oh, well!!! Anyway, tomorrow, the kids and I are heading out to Stonington for my grandma's birthday celebration:) She turns 71 on the 5th of July:) Jason won't be able to go as he's pretty busy working on the roof:) I can't wait until that's done:) Sunday, we will probably be at camp unless Jason decides to work on the roof some more. Right now, it just depends on how many people show up to help him:)

On the 4th of July, I work 7 a.m. til noon and then it's off to Wells park for the Frossard Family Reunion:) I'm hoping the weather is great so the kids can swim:) We should have lots of pics to upload next week:)

Well, everything is going well:) Brett has been spending lots of time with Taylor at grandma's house:) Lexie has been keeping busy as well:) She has been playing with her dolls quite a bit lately (when she's not reading) since it's been raining off & on the past 2 weeks. We got the garden planted the other day, but I still have to get some tomato plants and my friend, Chrysta, told me that I really should plant some lettuce since it's really easy to grow. She said it only takes like 28 days to get some!! Sweet! I love salad and so does Lexie:) We do have corn, carrots, beans, zucchini, cucumbers and green onions planted now, but I would like to get some more planted:) I forgot - we planted green peppers, too:) I have asparagus seeds, but I need to find somewhere for them other than the garden since they will come up every year:) I also would like to get some onion bulbs and seed potatoes, but we'll see:) Might as well try to save some money by growing my own instead of buying them every single week!!! Too bad Brett barely eats any veggies:( No salad, tomatoes, onions or even green beans or corn for him:( Fruit, on the other hand, he loves:)

This is Brett Frossard here reporting on some breaking news! We are heading to Stonington to our Grandma Joan's birthday! Well, last night we had chicken and rice and Lexie threw up! What sweet revenge!

Breatt again (what a suprise). We went to camp today! Taylor was there and we played our DSI XLs for a while, then we shot our guns. The Federil shots Kept jamming, but the Blazer never jammed. After my two Federil boxes were empty we put the bottle of water behind the wooden leg of the gun rest and tried to see if we could shoot it and we did, amazingly. When we went home, I played my DSI XL. A pretty fun day don't cha think? Until next time - bye!

Guess who? It's me. B....R....E....T....T!:) I got up at 11:08! I would have slept even longer if Rascal didn't wake me up. I went to grandma's house and played with Taylor. We played with my Legos. We stuck my minifigures in a straight line and threw my Lego airplane and blew all my Lego guys all over the place. Then I went home and played Lego Starwars: The Complete Saga. Not much but it was still fun!!!

**Brett is obviously quite happy playing video games and Legos, but I limit his game playing as I don't believe that's what he should spend all day doing. Granted, you don't even know he's around when he's involved in one of his games, but I like to know he's around:) Call me crazy!!! Even though he likes to talk my ear off and poke me when he's bored - he's being a real kid, you know what I mean?? He's not a zombie like he sometimes seems like when he's playing his DSi. He does go outside and play on the trampoline and he does go with Lexie to Grace's house and play. He likes to go to the library and go on the computer, but I tell him that he has to read, too. He's a very good kid:) They both are:) I love spending time with them:) Let me ammend that - as long as they aren't fighting!! I swear, they do more than their fair share of that!!

Anyway, that's all I have for now, but I will get after them to blog some more:) I just love to see what their thoughts are on the days:) Obviously, Lexie likes to do this alot more than Brett does!!!! Ok, I'll hopefully blog at ya again soon!!

Hot day!

Today I did my chores after Grace called. When I got my chores done, I was sweatting head to toe. So Brett & I went to Grace & Robert's house. We had to welk cause my back tire on my bike was flat. When we got there Brett had to play with me and Grace because Robert was at basketball. Luckily on that very day the pool was ready. So we all played together. It was fun. Later Rovert came so Brett still played in the pool. Brett enjoyed playing with Grace and I more than Robert. After that we went home and ate dinner. Grandma & Grandpa came over. Brett and I were speed stacking (plastic cups).

Today's fun

Today I went to my grandparents house and I got to see my cousin Taylor at noon and we went to see Kung Fu Panda II. It was a good movie. After we watched Arthur and the Invisibles at my grandparents house. After that Brett and I went home. When we got home we ate dinner & watched more TV. At 11:00 p.m. I went to bed with Rascal. He slept on my nose so I had to move him:)

Busy Day!

Today is my great-grandmas b-day so we went got her a card. We got to go home & get ready and leave. When we got to the suprise party, we got to play on the merry-go-round. Later I found a cousin of mine. Her name is Paige. She was nice. We had the same interests. Later my dad and Uncle Tom pushed us on the merry-go-round. It was fun.

Day at camp

Today we went to camp and I read most of the time outside though it was cold inside camp. Later, Brett, Taylor and I shot 22s. It was fun. We ate chicken for dinner and we went home. Then we watched TV til 11:30ish.

Exciting!!

Today, I did my chores. We went to the library. After, we ate dinner. Then we went to my grandmas house. My godparent, Jake, came over. I saw a huge spider on the ceiling. I have Aracnaphobia (her spelling) you know- fear of spiders, so I freaked. Jake killed it so I was happy it was gone. After that I went on the trampoline. I practiced alittle and I did a flip. I was awesome!! That's all.

Today I woke up, did some chores and later sat and watched TV. Later, I practiced flips. Then we left to my aunt Shannah's house for a PartyLite party. I had fun. I played with Chloe. She is nice, my age and almost same. I got bit by a dog! I was scared. I've never been bitten. Thats all.

**That's all Lexie has in her blog book so far:) I'm sure she will have many more interesting things to share:) She's such a funny little girl:)

She is participating in a Reading program at the library - she had to read 20 minutes a day and mark it off on a little card they give the kids. She started last week which was the 2nd week of the program and she's already caught up with week 3:) She loves to read:) She also loves to be with other kids and play in the water & on the trampoline:) I'm suprised she hasn't blogged about her weekend yet!! Saturday, we had her godbrother, Spencer's, birthday party in Gladstone. She had a ball playing at the park and getting to see her cousins, Hunter & Quinton, who live in Texas. They all went swimming, too, since it was nice enough. There is a water slide in Gladstone and the kids absolutely loved it:)

Brett spent the night at grandma's house since Taylor was staying over again, so it's just Lexie & I today, but it's pouring outside:( Lexie wants to go to Claires - she must be wanting some new jewelry;) She's such a girl!!! Anyway, I'm going to type some more of Brett's blog now:)

Hello, this is Brett here. I played with my cousin, Taylor (and my dim-witted sister). We had a water balloon war and I kicked butt!!:-) Taylor doesn't know how to tie them so he throws them over us and then the water pours out on you. When the war was over we went inside and had grilled ham and cheese (yum). Then Taylor and I played out GameCube. I had a great time!! By me, myself and I.

Brett here. Today I shot and killed my first porcupine. I think the death shot was the head. Well, at first I shot it with a water gun so it would run off. When that didn't work, I was ticked and took aout my 22. 9 shots and it's down. Now in non-violent news, at our grandma's house, Taylor, our friend, Riley whom I haven't seen in forever, we played our DSI xls. And when they went home, I stayed at grandma's because mom was visiting.

I'm happy school is out.

Today I was at my grandmas house and played my DS with Brett and my cousin Taylor. We also played catch with a dodgeball inside. Once we got done with that we had a water balloon fight. I got SOAKED!!! I got new Adidas sandals. They have pointy fingers but they make my feet feel great:)

This morning my kitten Rascal decided to wake me up by batting my face. He also meowed in my ear. We had to go to town to the chiropractor. We went to Walmart for a pineapple and peppers.

Summertime Fun!

Well today I played with my friend Morgan. I slept over and we played in the river. Once time I went in the shallow part and I scraped my back on lots of rocks but luckily I was wearing a Tshirt and didn't get any scratched or holes in my shirt. Later we caught crawfish. It was easy. Once we were done, we had a water balloon fight. We had a contest too. In a black tote filled with ice cold water. I won! But finally we went to the lake and went tubing. You have to hang on to two handles. I nearly fell off. I was only hanging on to one handle. The rest of my body was flying off. When we were going to the dock we saw a dead carp. It looked like it got too close to the propeller. Later on Moragan had a sleep over at my house:)

Blog 4:

Today I went to church. When that was finished we went to my house and Brett, Morgan, and I played with water guns. It was fun. Right after that we got ready for camp. At camp we played with the water guns after that we had to walk to the shooting range. When we got there my dad and grandpa were heading back to camp on the 4-wheelers. We all got a ride back. We played with the water guns. Then Morgan and I hid in my moms truck. And scared my dad. Then we went home and we checkedd the dogs for ticks. Morgan and I gave Kaylie a bath. Then she left. Then our friends Tom and Lisa and Lisa's daughter, Aubrey, came. She is nice and thirteen. Then they left after two hours and I watched TV.

A bit exciting yet scary!

Today my dogs were barking so I went outside and there was a huge porkypine!! So I told Brett and he shot it more than once. I took alot of pics of it at first I thought it was a cat then I saw the quills. They make me prickle. Brett's first kill. You could see blood coming from its head. After that I went to my friend Grace's. We had fun. We played outside and inside.

Memorial Day Weekend @ Camp Cross-Cut:)

We had a great time at camp:) We went up Saturday afternoon. Lexie spent the night:) We went to LaBranche Tavern for dinner with Jason's parents, grandma, aunts & uncles, brother, and cousins:) My whitefish could have been broiled a few more minutes, but it was ok. Brett & Lexie both had chicken tenders while Jason, of course had prime rib. Then we headed back up to camp to visit:) We didn't get home until 11 p.m. or so!!! Jason couldn't believe that I let him stay that long!!LOL!! I'm not real big on camp, which is suprising as I love to be out in the woods!?! Weird, I know:) Sometimes it's kinda boring, but it was very nice this weekend:)

Lexie's god-brother, Spencer, was pretty entertaining:) He's almost 3 and he's busy, busy, busy:) And he loves Lexie!! I realize that there's no such thing as god-brother, but that's what Lexie calls him as his mom is her godmother;) Leave it to Lexie:) Strangely, Rachel wasn't even at the baptism, but that wasn't her fault - she was in the hospital having Spencer so Jason's Aunt Sallie stood as proxy:)

On Sunday, we got up to camp around 11 a.m. for breakfast:) We spent the day there until about 7 or 8 p.m. We had brats and hot dogs and loads of other goodies for dinner as well as my yummy potato salad:)

I took lots of pics - not too many of Brett as he spent most of his time inside camp playing Legos or his DSi most of the time. I did limit his gaming time, though, so mostly it was playing Legos:)

Lexie and I took a short walk with Rachel, Ashley, Spencer and the 5 dogs: Kaylie, Kyra, Toby, Midnight, & Ruger. It didn't last too long since Spencer wasn't too into it:( Lexie rode the 4-wheeler alittle and she went on a couple rides with her daddy:) She absolutely LOVES to ride the 4-wheeler:) With her helmet on, of course!!!

We bought Lexie a puzzle to work on at camp - she picked one with wolves on it - just realized I totally forgot to take a picture!!! Darn it!! Anyway, I separated the edges for her and Grandma Wanda helped her work on it:) It was mostly done when we got up there Sunday morning, but Brett & I finished it:) I will have to get some more puzzles for camp:) That was fun:)

I guess that's all I can think of now:) Oh, we had worms & dirt for Brett's birthday yesterday - per his request from grandma:) He spent his birthday money Friday on Legos:) We got him his action replay (for his DS) and Pokemon White Version for his DS which he really wanted:) He did get some more birthday money last night, so I'm sure he will have that spent this afternoon as we are going shopping:)

So, I apologize for not posting pics, but I forgot my SD card:( Hopefully, I will be able to post them tomorrow:) Thinking about getting the kids each a notebook to use as a journal for the summer so I can post their thoughts:) They don't really like to post their own too often as they can't type so it takes them too long so I figured this might be a good way for them to blog:)

Lexie got her report card today:) She's got all A's:) A couple were A-s but excellent:) She only got 1 B on her report card for the whole year!!!! Why to go, baby!!!

Brett had an excellent marking period as well:) I don't have his final report card yet, but right now, on PowerSchool this is his: 2 B+s, 4 As, & 1 A-!!! I knew you could do it, buddy!!! And I also want to note that these were most of his highest marks in each subject all year!!! Only 1 or 2% difference:)

Today is the last day of school:) & Brett's 12th birthday;) My kids are finding themselves both happy and sad at the end of the school year. Lexie is taking it a little harder than Brett as you may have noticed from her brief blog entry. She is very sad that this was her last day at Lemmer/Elementary school:( She is very excited to go to the Middle School in the fall, but she will miss Lemmer very much!! She has so many wonderful memories of her Lemmer years:)

Brett had an awesome day:) He's super excited since it's his birthday and the last day of school:) He is bummed that he won't be able to see his friends everyday:( He's not even playing soccer this summer, but hopefully we can arrange some get-togethers with a couple of his buddies:) Especially Aiden & Zach:)

He's requested Cola Chicken & Cheese Ravioli for dinner tonight:) Even though I just made it last week, he still insists on having it tonight:)

Well, our plans for the weekend include being at camp pretty much all weekend. I work Friday & Saturday morning and again Monday morning, but I'm off by 12:30 each day which is super nice:) Jason, naturally, has Saturday, Sunday and Monday off - the bum!!

Saturday night, we are all going out to the LaBranche Tavern for dinner:) Lexie is more than likely staying up at camp all weekend as she LOVES it!! Just like her dad, you know:) Brett is bummed that Taylor won't be there since he will be down state.

Hey, all!!! What up?!?

Well, today is Tuesday and ....hmmm what to say about Tuesday?? Well, I am sitting at the library waiting for Brett to get done with school as I have to pick him up today:) He's not looking forward to it since he's got to get 3 shots today:*( Poor baby!! I told him it was an early birthday present from me;) Nice, aren't I? Anyway, they need a couple shots before entering 6th grade which Brett will be in next fall!!! My little baby is growing up way too fast!!

He's got 2 days til his birthday which is also the last day of school:) He's pretty excited but is having a hard time picking out what he'd like for his birthday - not that he had a hard time telling Grandma Wanda that she could just give him money!!! What a brat, hey??? I'm sure his list will be the same as it always is...video games and legos - that's pretty much it for my boy. Although, he's had his DS taken away for this whole marking period as his grades weren't very good and he's been reading like crazy:) Plus, his grades have improved ALOT!!! :) Mama's soooo happy!!!

Ok, so Lexie got a new kitten on Saturday:) He's super cute!!! We finally compromised on Rascal as a name for him. I suggested Amigo (since our other cat is Buddy) but she wasn't going for that:( She had some really strange ideas for names for him!! Apparently she really wanted a female that she could name Dixie. She wants to spend Saturday night up at camp with grandma & grandpa who stay up every Memorial Day & Labor Day weekends, but she's worried about leaving Rascal home without her. What a kid!! I told her I think we can take care of him while she's gone:)

Naturally, Buddy isn't too fond of him and Kyra & Kaylie love him but he's not too fond of them!! Typical!!

Ok, well, that's all I can think of for now so I'm gonna have to see if I can upload some pics:)

Well, Lexie is in Mackinaw City by now or pretty close:) She was really excited:) Brett even asked her if she was excited this morning:) I hope she takes lots of pics and has tons of fun:) We've got more pics from this weekend, but they are on her SD card:( so I can't post them yet!

Brett's not feeling very well today - he's having a hard time breathing:( Jason took his inhalor to work with him just in case he needs it - he works across the street from the Middle School:)

Sunday, May 15thJ

Hey all!! We have had a very busy last few days and now it’s finally over and we are relaxing at campJ It’s kinda boring, but at least we don’t have to worry about being anywhere at any certain timeJ Hooray!! But, of course, all good things must come to an endL Tonight, we have to get Lexie all set for her field trip to Mackinac CityJ She has to be at school by 6:30 a.m. so that means I have to leave early for workL Bummer - gonna lose ½ hour of sleep:*( She won’t be back at the school until about 8 p.m.

Well, the dance revue was a great successJ Lexie got lots of compliments!! Our friend, Phil, said she was so fun to watch, he watched her instead of his own daughter!! That’s pretty funny!! She thoroughly enjoyed herself and can’t wait until next year. I’m so glad I finally signed her up - I really wish I had done it years agoJ Most of the pics were pretty dark, but I will see if I can get some nice ones to post.

Lexie is busy taking pictures on her camera so I will have to check that, too for some for the blog. We are having hot dogs on the fireJ We brought some nice healthy snacks - veggies & dip as well as cantaloupe. Naturally, we had to bring chips and cookies, tooJ Kaylie took a long walk (or run) and came back to camp pretty dirty!!

I’m so tiredL I’m thinking about taking a walk, but I might just wait until after we get home as we won’t be staying here too long since both Lexie & Taylor have to get ready for their field trip.

Well, today is the day!!! Lexie has her first dance revue todayJ She has 2 shows @ 1 p.m. & 6 p.m. We have tickets to the 6 p.m. show, so I am kinda nervous/sad that I am not going to be there for both showsL I’m sure she will be fine, but I just feel like I need to be there. I was at the dress rehearsal last night & that was greatJ I thought she might be alittle nervous, but she wasn’tJ She was hopping around having a good ole timeJ That’s my girl;) Her group dances in 2 numbers and the finale. They dance to Shake, Rattle, & Roll and Hand JiveJ She absolutely loves the Hand JiveJ I will take some pics of her in her costume and post themJ

In other news, Brett is helping his daddy put new hardwood floor in at Grandma Wanda’s. At least, I hope he is helpingJ I’m really hoping he’s being helpful & not in the way. Grandpa can’t get down on his knees so he’s going to be cutting the pieces while Jason lays them downJ

Well, with the dance revue, we’ve had a very busy week!! Thursday night, Lexie had stage lessons from 6:15-9:15. It was a late night - poor Brett was super tired. Then, last night, we had dress rehearsal from 5:30-9. So the show is about 3 hours long. I’m really very proud of herJ It’s harder for her since this is her first year and the other girls have been in dance together since they were 3 or 4! She’s doing very well & she LOVES it!! She told me last night that she had lots of fun and wants to be in dance again next yearJ I told her I figured & already paid her registration for next yearJ

It took a lot of thought, but we’ve decided not to participate in soccer this yearL Brett didn’t want to play by the end of last year, so he wasn’t going to play this year. Lexie wants to play soccer & softball, but I told her it’s just way too much runningL Besides, after the whole school year running back & forth for dance, we need a breakJ I’m sure she will be involved in somethingJ She always finds somethingJ

The kids only have a couple more weeks left of school!!! Wow!

Today, Brett has a field trip to 4 undisclosed places in Delta County. Yep, I have no idea where he's going:( All I know is that they will be doing things outside - at least it's a nice enough day for that:)

Lexie has her field trip to Mackinac City on the 16th and their last day of school is the 26th which is Brett's birthday:)

We've been keeping pretty busy - Jason is still finishing up the trim in my new office:) The livingroom is all finished:) It looks super!! I just need a rug and some new blinds. Oh, and Jason has to hang up my pictures:) I do have to get new frames for the kids' pics but most of them are going up in the hallway - my portrait gallery, if you will:)

I have been doing a lot of walking and occasionally, one or both of the kids come with me:) Yesterday, it was Brett:) We took the dogs and went down the trail to the first stop sign which is about 2 1/4 miles round trip. Brett was super tired by the time we turned around:) I just laughed at him since the dogs and I had already walked this earlier:) So, I walked about 4 1/2 miles yesterday:) I usually only do 3, but I want to start adding on more and more:) We (Brett, Lexie, and I) are doing a 5K run/walk on Saturday. Naturally, I will be walking. I wish I could run as I do enjoy it, but since I twisted my knee, it's not easy to run:( I need to wear a knee brace when I walk or it swells up:( Oh, not to mention my ankle that gives out on me on occasion:( Unfortunately running is not an option for me:(

I think that's about it - oh, I just want to let everyone know that Brett's grades are awesome right now:) Taking his video games away really worked:) He's getting his homework done without being told and he's turning things in EARLY which is so NOT my son!! I'm going on powerschool when I'm done here so I can see the update:) I think he's got all As right now:) Go, Brett!!! Lexie is there, too, as usual:)

I'm going to try to upload some pics here, but as I'm at the library, I'm not sure if I can, so sorry if it doesn't work, I will have to try later at home:)

What have we been up to???

Well, that's the question, right?? I don't know is the answer:) Time is just flying by!! Brett & Lexie are now officially on Spring Break:) They are doing great in school. Lexie's class is getting ready for their big Mackinac City trip in May. They have been having fund raisers to help with the costs. They had a bake sale at the Book Fair and raised almost $600!! Next they will be selling Sayklly's candy bars, I believe, so if you are family, be ready to buy one:)

Tuesday night, Brett, Lexie, and I headed to Lemmer for the showing of the 4th grader's Electric City projects. Lexie made a farm, but it wasn't the only farm there:( Oh, well. I have to post some pics:) I don't have any with me right now, so hopefully tomorrow I will be able to get some uploaded:)

Last weekend, we were pretty busy - Jason started tearing down the panelling in the livingroom and hanging drywall which he mudded today:) Our friend, Charlie, was over so he brought his daughter, Morgan, over to play with the kids:) Saturday, we headed into town for the TV6 craft show at the fair grounds. We had lots of fun:) Then, Sunday, Lexie & I were invited to a Lia Sophia party at my friend, Lisa's. The girls didn't want to go, but they sure had fun:) They even won a prize - they picked out a necklace for me (for my birthday Lexie said).

Now, they are at the movies watching Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2:) It's with the youth of our church:) They were pretty excited:) I'm thinking about running over to JC Penneys to look around a bit while I wait for them. I certainly don't want to run home & back into town - gas isn't cheap:( That's why I brought my netbook with me:)

Well, we are back from the ice show & it was super fun;) Lexie enjoyed it, too:) I'm glad she's not too old for it yet:) I know I only have a couple more years left:*( Anyway, my battery in my camera was dead:( and Lexie's died, too, so we only took a couple of pics. Wanda got a couple, too, so I will have to check them out to see if they are worth putting on the blog:) I am in the room now - I just ordered Dominoes & Jason took the kids to the pool so they could swim:) I have to call them when the pizza gets here:) I think that's it for now - I'm going to check & see if there's any pics worth posting, so I hope there is for you to enjoy:) Otherwise, have a great night;)

Green Bay rocks!!!! Yet it is very busy.It's far away and aching!!! Been a while since I've been in Green Bay .Madison's happy, too:) Went to Golden Corral for breakfast. (Shudder) We went to Appleton and we went to the mall. Oh, yeah!! I got a new wooden chest from Woodworker's Depot. I get to paint it:) Yay! I also got a piece of posterboard for my "Don't flush drugs" poster for school. I'm going to make it super awesome and win some cash:) I picked out a new dress for Madison. She told me that she was getting tired of only having pink clothes, so we had to find another color. My mom said we had to get that hat for Madison because it was so cute:) I forgot my sunglasses at home, so we got some at Justice. I got a really cute necklace with a magnet on it so the bottle cap pendant can stick to it. I got a panda one and a penguin one. I also got some cute clothes which you can see from the pictures that mom posted:) Daddy and grandpa had to go to every sporting goods store around like Dick's and Gander Mountain. I did find some cute shorts at Dick's. We are looking for a Packer's jersey for me but we haven't found one in my size yet - only large and bigger. I need a small or youth large/x-large:( I want a Matthews jersey:)

We got a late start this morning:( The plan was to go to IHOP for breakfast, but by the time we got there, it was packed and there were people waiting to get tables so we headed to the Golden Corral for the breakfast buffet:) Jason hated it and didn't eat much of anything while the rest of us thought it was ok:) After breakfast, we headed to Appleton which was a slight change in plans - we were going to go to Appleton on Sunday, but this area is expecting 8-13 inches of snow so we didn't want to plan on going tomorrow. This way, we can head home tomorrow morning if we choose:)

Brett picked out some Legos at Toys R Us, but Lexie didn't get anything there. She was saving her money for Build-a-Bear and Justice. She got Madison a new St. Patrick's Day dress, sandals, and hat:) I will take a pic for you to see:) She picked out 2 outfits and a necklace & sunglasses at Justice:) I will post pics:) She's modelling them for me now:) Brett bought a MegaMan DS game at Fleet Farm yesterday - I can't remember if I told you that or not:) We also got Disney Sing It for the Wii because it came with the microphone that we needed for Lexie's HSM Sing It games she got for Christmas (couldn't get just the microphone).

Alright, we are back at the hotel now. It's almost 5 p.m. here and we have 2 hours before the ice show starts so I am going to take a couple more pics of the kids and try to get them posted on here:)

We made it to Green Bay:) We did have to turn around and go home twice - once because Brett forgot to put his DS in the correct backpack and the second time because I forgot to grab our Disney on Ice tickets off the bulletin board:( Jeez!! Anyway, we got to our hotel at 3:02 CST and checkin is at 3 p.m. so perfect;) It was kinda early to have dinner, so we decided to go to Fleet Farm and then Home Depot before heading back to the hotel. /We walked across the street to the Arena Stadium Sports Bar for dinner - it was pretty good:) We ate there last year, too:) Tomorrow, we will hit the mall and a few other places for shopping, then us girls will be going to the ice show which starts at 7 p.m. I took a few pics of the kids in the pool:)

We are having a blast:) The kids aren't even really fighting:) Brett spent his Christmas & Valentine's Day money on a Megaman game for his DS:)

He made the B Average Honor Roll:) Hooray!! He had a note from his teacher that she doesn't think he's working to his full potential which I must agree with:( He is so much better than what he's doing now:(

He's not focused at all. He's very smart, but he really doesn't care about his grades:( We are working on getting him organized and focused:) Hopefully, he will keep improving:) His grades have improved since last marking period:)

His ear is feeing much better:) He only has one day left of antibiotics:) He didn't need any pain relievers today:)

Lexie's thumb is looking better:) We are soaking it in Epsom salt:) I'm hoping we take care of it and don't have to take her in.

I think that's all I've got for now:) NCIS is on:)

Well, Friday night while I was at an Arbonne party, Brett's ear started hurting:( I gave him some Tylenol and Jason put some sweet oil in his ear. He woke up in the middle of the night, crying, because it hurt again, so we gave him more Tylenol & sweet oil. He didn't get too much sleep:( He woke up yesterday morning with ear pain so I took him to the doctor since I was pretty sure he had an infection which he did:(

The good news is that he's feeling MUCH better today:) He's only got 3 more days of antibiotics:) He only has to take them once a day:) He should be all set for school tomorrow:)

Lexie's thumb is swollen - it looks like it's infected on the side like she has an in-grown nail:( Well, we've been keeping after it with peroxide and ointment so I'm hoping that will get better in the next day or 2 or she will have to go in, too:(

On a good note, Lexie got her report card Friday & she's got all A's with an A- in PE:) and all her social/emotional grades are 1s which are the best:) She's doing very well & she loves school:) I'm still waiting for Brett's report card.

Hopefully we will have our taxes done this week, but it's not looking too good for us:( Might have to pay in this year:(

Well, I gotta go see if Jason is going to make dinner or if I gotta do it - we're having breakfast since Jason hasn't gotten to have any this weekend:( Maybe he shouldn't have gone to camp yesterday since I made breakfast for the kids and myself:) Today, after church, we had a celebration for one of our member's 97th birthday:) Happy Birthday, Ed!!

I forgot to tell you - Lexie has a boyfriend!!! His name is Sean (not sure how he spells it tho). She really likes him! She came home on Friday the 14th & told me that it was her & Sean's one month anniversary!! LOL! I think it's totally cute:) She was so excited:) Don't worry - my nephew, Taylor, watches out for her at school:) He's actually quite protective of her:) The other day she came home all excited because her bff necklace (Ashley has the other half) is a mood necklace & it was brown all day which Ashley told her meant "Love". She's so funny!!

Sorry, I almost forgot to tell you that we finally got to celebrate Christmas with my side of the family:) We were waiting for my sister, Casey, to come home:) She lives in Wisconsin and only has her 2 older boys every other weekend and holidays are kinda screwed up:( It was nice to see everyone:) The kids got some more presents and they love spending time with their cousins:) Plus, we had birthday cake:) My dad turned 50 on Thursday and my mom will be 50 on Feb 1st:) And Casey turned 29 on the 4th, David turns 3 tomorrow and Logan will be 8 on Friday:) Lots of birthdays in January:) I must say that the 2 youngest had a great time!! They love to open presents;) My nephews, David & Ethan, will be 3 this year:) David wanted to open everything - whether it belonged to him or not:) lol!! I got Ethan some small emergency vehicles (police SUV & helicopter & a fire engine which make noise). When he opened the fire truck, he said, "Cool fire truck." I count that as a good choice:) They are so funny when they are little like that:) I wish I could see them more often:(

Of course, I'm not quite finished with Christmas - I haven't seen my grandma yet to give her present to her yet:( and I still have gifts for my 4 nieces which I haven't seen in a while.

So Valentine's Day is next and that means it's almost time for our annual trip to Green Bay for Disney on Ice:) Lexie still wants to go to the ice show, so we will. Brett is going with daddy and grandpa to sporting goods stores and Fleet Farm:) I'm debating whether to add friends. I know they are getting older and it's funner if your friends go, too. Maybe I'll keep this as a family weekend and go some other time (when the weather is nicer) for the night with friends:)

End of 1st Semester

Pretty good couple of weeks except for Brett missing several days of school:( He was having stomach problems so finally I tried cranberry juice in case he was getting a bladder infection or something and he's been good since except last Monday when he had the flu:( He missed 6 days of school and 3 half-days this marking period:(

The kids are both at Hunter Safety class. It's Saturday & Sunday from 10-3. Yeah, it's kind of a long day, but they both wanted to be in it:) Lexie took a notebook & pencil and she took notes;) She's funny! They stayed at grandma's last night as we went out with friends and I guess Lexie studied quite a bit last night:) That's my girl;)

I was on PowerSchool this morning and got their grades - semester ended Thursday. I'm not positive these grades are final, but they should be pretty close:) Brett had a hard time the first marking period, but he did much better this one;)

Brett: Math B+, Language Arts A, Social Studies B-, Reading B, Spelling B, PE A-, Technology A, & Art A. I am very proud of him for doing such a great job:)

Alexia: Math A, Social Studies A, Science A, Reading A, Spelling A, and PE A-. That's right, my baby girl has straight As:) Awesome job, Lex!! She had all As last marking period, too, except for a B in math (she brought it up 8%!!)

Oh, my, but time flies!! I'm so glad it's over!! Don't get me wrong - I LOVE Christmas, but it just gets so hectic that it's really nice when it's back to normal:) Tomorrow, the kids are back to school and I'm off work, so I'm hoping to get some things done. I am not feeling well yet, so we'll see if I get anything done. Oh, well - C' est la vie:)

Anyway, our holidays were wonderful:) I guess they're not quite done yet as we haven't celebrated with most of my side of the family yet, but it was still good:) On Christmas Eve, I had to work until 5:45, so when I got done, I met Jason and the kids at his grandma's. They were all waiting for me - the kids were told they couldn't open presents until I got there, so they were watching for me:) I definitely felt the love:) Anyway, all the boys got remote controlled trucks from Uncle Cook & Aunt Karen so they were racing around the house:) Lexie got a gift card for Claire's which we had a ball spending on the clearance rack on Tuesday:) They also got some fleece pj pants which they couldn't wait to put on (Lexie had to be told she couldn't wear them to Christmas Mass).

On Christmas morning, Lexie woke us up at 7:50 a.m. to tell us Santa had been here:) (We are lucky as my siblings & I always tried to get our parents up at 5 or 6 a.m. - they always made us wait until 7). Opening presents didn't take too long as their stack wasn't quite as big this year on account of their new DSi XLs(thanks to Kmart layaway!) which were the hit of the day:) Those were from Jason & I so we made them wait to open them:) Brett gave me a big hug and told me I was the best mom in the world and Lexie said she was the happiest girl on earth:) It made it all worth it:)

Next we headed to Grandma Wanda's where we opened more presents and then to Auntie Sallie's for breakfast and more presents. Then we went home for a little while to let the kids enjoy their toys and rest before heading back to Wanda's for dinner. Jason took a little nap:) Brett hit the jackpot with Legos:)

On Sunday, I had to work until 5:30, so we didn't do much. On Monday, the kids and I headed to Rapid River to my mom & dad's for our Christmas.

We still need to exchange gifts with my siblings' children sometime this month, depending when my nephews are home. I can't wait to see them:) I wanted to head there one day this past week and suprise them, but I've been sick since Tuesday:(

Oh, Brett & Lexie both got small MP3 players so I get to listen to their fabulous singing:) Lexie is singing right now:)

For New Year's Eve, we were going to our friends', Chrysta & Phil's, but they ended up with the flu, so we ended up having Charlie, Theresa, and Morgan over to our house:) We watched Vampires Suck which was pretty dumb:(

Alright, I think you are all caught up:) Oh, except that from my in-laws and my parents, I got $$ for a kitchen table:) I spent about 3 hours online Tuesday (dial-up), but I finally got one ordered:) It will be in between Tuesday & Thursday:) I can't wait!!!Thanks a bunch, guys:)

Pre-Christmas update

Wow! Time is flying!! Now that I'm all done with my Christmas shopping, I wish it would just get here so I can give gifts out:) Brett is super excited:) He was dancing around the other day:) I'm glad he is still excited when he is 11 years old. He's happy that his cousins are here from Texas.

Lexie had her Christmas program last Thursday and she put her dress on, but it was too small!!! She had to wear jeans and a pretty sweater. She still looked super cute, but I wish she could have worn her dress:( Brett's program is tonight at the Middle School. I;m hopung Brett will sing. Sometimes he;s very shy in front of people - which is weird since he loves attention and acting silly. I can't blame him, though, as I don't care for it myself.

I don't think there's much to tell. I'm not sending Christmas cards out this year as I have had no time:( It came to fast and I've been working a lot. Retail stores at Christmas, you know. By the way, I love my job:)

Well, have a great Christmas if I don't see you since I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get back on here before then. I hope Santa is good to you all:)

I know, I know...what the heck have I been doing??? It seems like the days are just flying by:( I can't believe that Christmas is about 2 weeks away!! I need to finish up my shopping!!! At least I have a huge dent in it:)

Okay, so we had a nice Thanksgiving, even though I had to work 10-4 which meant I didn't get to my parents house this year:( We did go to Jason's grandma's and didn't stay too long as I had to work at 4:45 a.m. on Black Friday!! That was the best day ever!!! I laughed at the people running into the store when we unlocked the doors - silly people!! I volunteered to work the layaway checkout, so I was totally busy the entire time:) Most of the time, my line was nearly to the back of the store!! I was pretty dead by the end of my shift, though:) Brett & Lexie enjoyed being off from school:) They got to spend lots of time at Grandma Wanda's house:)

As some of you know, Hunting Season is a big deal up here in the U.P. Jason, naturally, had to go to camp both weekends of hunting season. The first weekend, he brought Brett with him:) Brett had lots of fun even though they didn't get to shoot anything:) I'm sure it helped that my nephew, Taylor, was at camp, too:) Lexie wanted to have popcorn and watch movies, so that's what we did most of the weekend when I wasn't at work. The second weekend of deer camp was Lexie's turn. Once again, sadly, they didn't get to shoot anything:( Poor things:( She had fun at camp with daddy:) She loves camp:) Brett and I watched movies and talked (Brett loves to talk!!). On Sunday, he went to a birthday party at the Comfort Suites and got to swim in the awesome pool:)

Last week, Brett and I went to the mall and we picked 2 angels off of the angel tree. Brett picked an 11-year old boy and I picked an 8-year old girl for Lexie. Lexie and I picked up a few things for them:) We have a couple more things to pick up this week. We have to have everything to the mall Friday. I hope those kids have a great Christmas:) Lexie picked out some cute pjs, slipper socks, and slippers for the girl:) She asked for snowpants, so we got some of those for her, too:)

Last week, I had to take each of them to town so they could pick out gifts for each other:) This is something we started a couple years ago and they suprisingly put lots of thought into their gifts:) Sometimes it seems like they really don't like each other at all:( They fight all of the time:( I thought it'd get better with them not being in the same school or on the same bus, but I guess not:(

On Sunday, we went to camp and picked out our Christmas tree:) We got a skinny one this year as we don't have room for a fat one! It really wasn't as fun this year as there was no snow so the kids couldn't have their annual snowball fight:(

Well, next week is Lexie's Christmas program and Brett's is the following week:)

Ok, well, that's all I can think of right now, but I will try to keep up a little better. I've just been working a lot, but I know that will change after Christmas:)

I'm off on Sunday so we can go to my nephews' and my sister's baptism:) I can't wait to see them again:) I know it was just last month, but it seems like so long ago:( I really wish they lived closer!! Brett & Lexie are excited to see them again, too:) I call my nephews OLE (Ovid, Logan, and Ethan) for short, just so you know if I put that in:)

We are trying to figure out what we're doing for the holidays and doing some Christmas shopping;) I will have to work on Thanksgiving, but I'm not sure what shift yet, so it's hard to make a final plan:( Also, my nephews will be with their dad for Christmas. Casey doesn't get them back until the 27th, so we will probably be doing something then. I've started holiday shopping, but I really need to get organized and figure everything out otherwise I'll be getting things I don't need. I have 5 nieces and 5 nephews, so that's a lot of kids plus my two.

This year is probably the hardest to try to come up with things to tell everyone what the kids would like. Lexie said Littlest Pet Shop and Polly Pockets, but she has tons of them already!!! She loves music, art, dance, clothes, accessories, etc. She's such a girl;) Brett, of course, would like Legos and video games. I guess their lists aren't that much different from last year!! I did get them a few things already:)

I really wish it would snow!!! I don't particularly like snow, but I like snowy pics for Christmas cards:) Then it can go away - don't tell Jason that - he would be sad if he couldn't snowmobile again this year:(

Well, I have parent-teacher conferences today, so I will have to let you know how the kids are doing later:) Pretty good, I think - they get lots of 100% papers;)

Ok, so what's been going on this past week? Well, Lexie started ice skating:) I've got a couple pics I will try to post later. Her first time was last Sunday and she only fell 5 times:) I was pretty amazed! She's never been on ice skates before, but she's been on roller blades quite a bit. Hers are too small now, though, so she keeps wearing mine which are like 3 sizes too big. I guess she'll need a new pair for Easter. I was thinking for Christmas, but what's the sense? She won't be able to use them until the spring. Anyway, back to ice skating:) I had to work yesterday, so poor Jason had to come home early from camp so he could take her to skating. I'm glad he got to see her skate:) I guess she took a hard fall on her bum, but she was in bed when I got home so I will have to check it out when she gets home from school. We may not be keeping her in skating:( I signed her up for the full year (until February) and paid for it. Then, on Halloween, they wanted another $50 for costume deposit for the ice skow in February. They won't accept it after that date. Well, I didn't have it and Jason didn't get paid until the 3rd, so she's not going to be in the ice show:( Now, we HAVE to sell candy - a minimum of $125 or if we don't sell, we can pay another $50!! If we don't sell $125, then we will be charged the difference!! OMG!! What?!? It seems like it's getting to be more of a hassle than it's worth:( So, do we pay for this and keep her in while all the girls practice for the show she won't be in??? or do we take her out and just let her learn on her own at the ice rink by her school and on the river with her friends?? Jason and I talked about it last night and we decided to talk to Lexie about it and see what she thinks. You know, I really don't mind the idea of the fund raiser, but I can't do another fund raiser right now! Brett and Lexie each had one for their schools and they just sold pies for the Youth at church. Seriously?!? I can't see asking friends and family to buy MORE than they already have!!

Ok, so off that subject:) Lexie got her school pictures back on Tuesday, I think:) They are pretty cute, of course:) I am still waiting for Brett's, though, and he got his done the day before she did!! Well, I'm really hoping he comes home with them today:) Sorry, I'm not putting Lexie's up until I get Brett's - anticipation and all;)

I've got to get my plan together for Christmas cards. As some of you know, I always take pics and get cards made. Usually, we are blessed (or cursed) with snow by now. Today happens to be beautiful and warm:) So we'll see - we might not have snowy Christmas cards this year, but I'm sure they will still be adorable:)

Brett had an Indian project due today:) He had to make an Indian village. It seems like they could do it pretty much however they wanted - they just needed to lable everything - CRAP!! I totally forgot to take pictures of it last night!! Maybe Brett did with his camera! It was pretty cute:) Lexie and I helped him:) We bought a foam board and painted grass and a river. We used clay to make Indians, teepees, canoes, fish, deer, moose, beaver, etc. Jason brought it to school as we didn't think it would last the bus ride!!

Brett's doing better in Spelling now that I am working with him on it every week:) He got 100% on the last 2:) Lexie, as always, is doing great:) Most of the papers she brings home are 100%!! She's a smart little girl:) It seems the only problem she has is Math sometimes, but it's not adding, subtacting, or anything - it's usually placement values and mode, median, and range stuff (yeah, the same stuff I had to help Brett with!!). She has trouble with problems that look like this: 2,000+40+5 then she's supposed to write it as a number:2045. Well, she forgets to put the 0 in there for the place value. She writes it as 245. I'm going to make her some practice sheets to work on after I get done bloggin' and doing my Zumba:)

Ok - sorry I had to abandon you for a sec. I was picking Brett up at school and now we are at Lemmer waiting for Lexie. I love Thursdays:)

Lexie woke up with a sore throat yesterday, but I think it was just from being dry as she was fine an hour or so later!!

Last night, Charlie and Morgan came over. Charlie was helping Jason work on the house and Morgan played with the kids. I guess they all got along good:) I toasted the pumpkin seeds from their carving. They carved their pumpkins Tuesday night. They sure had fun:) I've got pics:) I might see if I can upload them for you:)

The kids are doing well:) Brett wasn't too happy with his archery teacher on Tuesday, so he left class and went to the gameroom. Jason and I weren't very happy with him, so Jason took his video game privileges away for a week or so.

Lexie still loves dance:) She was supposed to start ice skating on Sunday, but she doesn't have skates yet:( I can't seem to ever catch the lady at the pro shop:( I think I'm just going to get her some from Dunham's.

Jason and I are going to be hippies for Halloween and Wanda and I have been working on our bell-bottoms:) Lexie wants a pair, too:) So I'll have to get her a cheap pair of jeans we can cut up:) She wants to wear them to school:) She's a fashion statement for sure;)

Hey:) Sorry it's been so long, but it's been crazy lately. Brett's not been feeling well:( He missed school Tuesday and Wednesday. Then, Thursday he called grandma to come pick him up. He had a really bad cough. He finished the MEAP tests he'd missed. He went to the doctor on Thursday and the doctor said he looked pretty good. It was just going to have to run it's course. He felt much better today:)

Yesterday, Jason and I celebrated our 10th anniversary:) Not much to tell other than I quit my job:) That's a long story that I will explain further on my own blog later:) This one's for the kids:) They are spending the night at grandma's since Jason and I are in Houghton/Hancock for our romantic weekend away:) Yeah, go ahead and laugh if you know the area:)

Well, we're gonna go laugh at the karoke singers in the bar:) Have a good one:)

Sorry - it's been a busy few days and now I'll attempt to catch you up on all of it:)

Ok, we'll start with Thursday:) I've been trying to keep notes so I don't forget things;) Brett had a pretty good day:) He passed his Mad Minute and got to move onto the next one:) He got 2 wrong on his spelling test (90%). He spelled received and delicious wrong -which are hard words. I'm pretty proud of him:) He also brought home his progress report - all !s and Bs except 1 C in spelling - we are going to bring that up to at least a B by the end of the marking period:)

Lexie had her last day of MEAP testing - we will get the results in the spring, I velieve. Why does it take so long?? You don't know what the kids need to work on until it's too late:( I'm pretty sure I told you about her progress report already - all As and Bs except 1 C in math.

She's doing much better in dance:) Last week, she was...well, there are no words to say what she was!! LOL!! Uncoordinated, for sure;) She's pretty excited to be almost done with basketball:) She loves it, but she doesn't like having to get up at 7 a.m. on Saturdays to go:( She complains about only being able to sleep in on Sundays when she has to get up at 9 for church:) Poor baby, right?

Oh, if you haven't tried Chocolate Peanut Butter or Chocolate Turtle Chex Mix, you need to!! Awesome!!

Friday - not too much to say - I had to work 4-9, so I saw Brett for a couple minutes before leaving for work and I came home in time to see Lex go to bed:( I hate night shifts when my kids are in school!!

On Saturday, we went to Clintonville for my nephew's birthday party. He turns 9 on Wednesday:) He had a "friend party" this year, but Brett & Lexie were invited since they are in the same age-range. It was at the Rec Center and the kids got to go swimming. Then they ate cake and opened presents, then we went to my sister's for 1/2 hour or so. Casey had bought a pogo stick for Lexie's birthday. We got Ovid a Star Wars Trouble game and an iTunes card so he could get some new music for his mp3 player. When we left, we headed to Green Bay to Gander Mountain to pick up some shells for someone Jason knows. We stopped in Menominee at Pizza Hut for dinner and got home around 9. It was a long day, but we had fun:)

Yesterday, we went up to camp. We brought Lexie's friend, Emily, with us. She kept Lexie occupied and out of her brother's hair;) Brett and Taylor played Legos and something in the trees - I didn't ask:) We had ghoulash for dinner. Jason spilled the jar of his mom's homemade bread and butter pickles all over his lap - he sure smelled good on the way home:)

Not much to say about today - I went to town and picked up groceries - I actually had a list this time:) I made some crispy chicken for dinner - I will post the recipe on my blog later if you want it - the kids even liked it, but I think they like chicken as much as I do:) I also baked an apple pie - yep, I think I've only made one once. Ok, well, I've gotta get ready to go to my MIL's:) If I have time later, I will try to post some pics:)

Today I went to school and I MEAP tested. I also colored a big pumpkin and witch plus a haunted house. I went to the library and got 9 books. I went with my grandma. I was so happy:)

Brett and Lexie didn't have any homework, but Brett has a spelling test tomorrow. We didn't get to study since he only has the words on his spelling packet which was due today and he had to turn it in. I hope he does well:)

Lexie has been working on MEAP testing which is Michigan Educational Assessment Program, I believe. She doesn't mind the testing.

I'm watching Baby Mama right now:)

The kids worked on chores today. Not too much going on.

Progress Report

Apparently, Lexie brought home a progress report on Friday and was supposed to have it signed and returned to school today, but I never saw it. She must not have given me her Friday folder!! What a brat!

Well, I am home alone. I'm not sure if it's nice or not. Sometimes it's nice when everyone is gone, but sometimes I miss the noise. I guess I'm just so used to them being around. We really didn't do much yesterday, but at least the kids and I got to go to the corn maze on Saturday:) Next time, I hope Jason can come with us.

I'm pretty excited that we've gotten to do so much with the kids this last year:) We, of course, did our Disney on Ice Green Bay trip in February. Then, in June, we took the kids down state to Mac Island and City, then the Soo Locks. In August, we had the fair and a trip to Fayette and Big Springs and now we've done the corn maze:) Plus, they were in soccer, basketball camp(s), archery, dance, etc. It's really nice to finally have the time to do some things with them! Sometimes, it's not great to only be working part-time, but it sure frees me up to do more for/with the kids:)

I'm going to sit down and try to make a Christmas plan:) I already have some ideas, but I'd like to get it all down:) Also, I've got to start thinking about Christmas cards:( Yeah, it's getting to be that time:) Maybe we'll have a nice fall picture this year:)

Oh, I finally got to at least hear about Lexie's progress report. She's got all A's and a C+ in math:( She's having trouble with subtraction. She starts MEAP testing tomorrow and she was studying for it last week.

Brett needs to practice his multiplication and cursive. We worked on multiplication for about an hour and finished up his spelling homework.

Well, not much going on today. I work 3-8 tonight, so not too much time to do anything:(

We had a pretty low-key morning. We just chilled out and did whatever we felt like. Brett played with his DS and Lexie played in her room. Jason was watching football, I think and I was watching Lethal Weapon 3 in the bedroom.

Around noon, Jason and the kids left for camp. I sat down with my book:) Lexie said camp was good. She didn't have much to say about it, though and Brett was sleeping when I gt home, so I didn't get to talk to him:(

Catching up - Saturday - Hayes Corn Maze

Lexie and Jason had to get up at 7 since Lexie had basketball at 8. Then Jason made breakfast for us:) We watched Bring It On: Fight to the Finish. Then we started on our chore list. The kid worked pretty hard:) They got their rooms clean, too:)

We are waiting to hear from Theresa and Morgan to see if they can join us at the Hayes Corn Maze today:) I've been wanting to go for a while:) My camera battery is charging. I'm looking forward to some pics:) I'm not telling the kids where we're going - I want to surprise them:)

Well, we ended up going by ourselves, but we had a great time:) We got all 10 of the stations and turned in our Maze Master cards:) It only took us 1 1/2 hour!! That's including the potty break and a visit to the farm animals. One of the chickens pecked a little girl and she was screaming:( Poor thing!! Brett and Lexie wanted to take one of the kittens home with us, but they weren't getting rid of them:( Lexie is still pretty sad about her cat:( We still haven't seen or heard from her:(

We're home now and working on dishes, laundry, and making spaghetti for dinner:)

Catching Up From the Weekend:- Friday

I put an extra 1/2 hour in at work today which was ok since I had to get Lexie to her extra tap lesson @ 4. I really wasn't looking forward to trying to find something to do in town for 2 hours. Jason worked until 5, so he picked her up when she was done at 5:30. I made Lexie a pizza at Subway before I left as she's always hungry after school. I ran into Walmart real quick to get ibuprofen, shampoo, conditioner, and dog food. Then we were off to dance. I dropped Lex off then headed to Shopko to exchange her 2 pairs of jeans ( I had accidentally gotten her slims). She tried them on when she got home and 1 still didn't fit! I think they were slims and marked wrong:( Now I gotta take them back AGAIN!!!

No word from Shopko on my table:( I checked while I was there, but there wasn't any:(

I made cola chicken and cheese ravioli for dinner:) Then we were off to Charlie and Theresa's house. We had lots of fun:_ Brett told me that he was massaging the girls' feet! Even his sister's !! He was the only boy.

Anyway, we got home late and went to bed:)

Brett and Lexie are working on chores right now:) They've been slacking alittle the past few days:( :(
Today was supposed to be my day off, but one of the girls were sick, so I went in for a couple of hours. I could only stay until 2 since I had to pick the kids up.I got to the middle school around quarter after and waited for Brett, but he never came:( I called Jason to see if he reminded Brett this morning about me picking him up and of course, he forgot>:( So I tried to hurry up and catch his bus before it left which I didn't:( Then Jason called me back and said that Brett's bus goes to the Holy Name school next - I was already on my way there!! Anyway, I caught up to him at Holy Name and had to go get him off of the bus.

Then we headed to the mall where we got Lexie a pretty blue sweater and denim shirt - I was looking for more jeans for her, but they mostly had skinny jeans which Lexie doesn't like. Then, Brett and I ran to Shopko and I found two pairs of jeans for Lex (and a new shirt, too!) By the way, Brett spent his allowance on a Tasty Science Kit. He can make fizzy drinks and some crystal suckers:) He's been eying it up for a while:)

Next, we went and picked Lexie up at school and ran to Wendy's for some chicken nuggets for a snack before dance. Whoops-we actually went to our chiropractor appt first:) We ate our snack, then had to run to Holiday to get gas and finally off to the dance studio where it was observation night. It was fun watching the girls and see what they had learned so far:)

Well, Lexie's pretty whiny tonight, so she's going to bed early! Brett is working on homework-he has to read aloud to one of us, so he's reading to daddy right now about volcanoes. Right up his alley:) That's all I can think of right now - I've got a headache:( and I'm super tired!

Brett loves the civic center:)

We had a pretty good day:) Both Brett and Lexie have spelling tests tomorrow, so we studied their words. They did pretty good - hopefully they'll do well on their tests:)

Brett had so much fun at the civic center yesterday that he wanted to go back today:) He even asked his friend, Aiden, to see if he could go there after school someday, too. Brett walked across the street to Northern Motors and asked Jason if he could go to the civic center today:) Even after I told him that we needed to plan it ahead of time:)

The kids received a birthday party invite today for their cousin, Ovid's, birthday party:) Hopefully, we will be going. We're planning on it, but we're not sure what time we will be able to go since Lexie has basketball that morning - I was hoping to catch one of my nephews' soccer games, but I don't think we'll be there in time:(

Well, I called and cancelled my NetZero today, so I'll only be using my netbook. I'm not sure if I'll be able to blog as much, but I sure will try:)

First day of archery:)

Brett's first day of Archery was great:) He loved it!! He couldn't wait to show me his target:) He did pretty well:) He also made a new friend named Tyler. He's also in 5th grade, but not in Brett's class.

Lexie was glad he wasn't home after school so she could get chores done without him! She wants to get the most checks.

We went to town after dinner to get a new kitchen table, but Shopko didn't have anymore:( We put one on raincheck:) She said they had just gotten a truck in, so they may have gotten some in tonight:) Then we ran to Menards and got a board for a small shelf above the stove and a piece of countertop for the new desk Jason is building for my new office. He's hoping to have my new room done by the end of next week:) Hooray!!

Oh, by the way, Brett told me that he could go to the civic center whenever he wanted and he could even do his homework there:) I already knew that;) So I let him know that we'd have to plan ahead and as long as it was ok with daddy to bring him there, he could go when I work til 4:)

Counting at Lemmer

This was supposed to be my blog from yesterday, but I did it using my cell phone and it came up all these letters and symbols:( So here it is in plain English:

Hi! The kids had fun tonight:) I had to go to Lemmer school * help count fundraiser money:) They played on the playground with some other kids. Jason went with his brother to get firewood. After I was done counting, we went to my MIL's and had coconut cream pie:) Yummy! Ashley, Jason's cousin Tyler's girlfriend, made apple pie filling for us:) I'm going to have to make some soon:) Well, I think that's all for now. Have a great night, everyone:)

Sunday at Camp

I just want you to know that Brett is sad that I changed the pic - he liked the other one much better:) He's so funny:)

Anyway, yesterday, Jason took the kids to camp where they had lots of fun!! Lexie shot Brett's gun again and Jason said she's getting much better:) I wasn't too happy to hear about Lexie riding on the back of the 4-wheeler while my nephew, Taylor, drove it!!:( I told Lexie that she was absolutely not allowed to ride on the back with anyone other than an adult. Of course, she then asked me if Kylee, my niece, was considered an adult. I told her, "No - Kylee is considered a 14-year old girl."

Jason said the leaves are beautiful up at camp:) Naturally, he didn't take the camera with him. Anyway, I'm hoping to make it up to camp and take some pics:)

Apple Pinwheels

apples
cheese spread, cream cheese, or peanut butter

Core one medium apple for each child. Stuff the opening with cheese spread, cream cheese, or peanut butter. Slice cross-wise and serve.

Bagel Miniatures

1/2 c creamy peanut butter
2 T soft-style cream cheese
2 T honey
3 whole-wheat or cinnamon-raisin bagels
fresh fruits, thinly sliced
lemon, orange, or pineapple juice

In a small bowl, combine peanut butter, cream cheese, and honey; mix well. Cut each bagel in half lengthwise. Toast bagel halves in toaster at medium setting. Place bagels on cutting board; spread with peanut butter mixture. Dip fruit slices in lemon, orange, or pineapple juice to prevent darkening. Attractively arrange slices on top of bagel halves. Using a serrated knife, cut each bagel half into four equal pieces. Makes 24 servings

Flour Finger Paint

Just ran across this recipe and thought it might interest some of you:)

Mix one cup of cold water and one cup of flour. Add the mixture to 3 cups of boiling water. Continue cooking, stirring contantly until the mixture thickens. Food coloring can be added for interest.

Girl's Day Out

Our shopping trip went well:) First, we stopped at Walmart because Lexie wanted to check out the clearance aisle. She didn't find anything that she wanted to buy, but I found a bundt pan for $7. We had to get laundry soap and a few things Brett needed for school for art class. Lexie found an art set that she really wanted for $10, so she decided to buy it:) Also, I got her 2 belts on clearance:) Then we checked out the toys, but nothing caught her eye.

Next, we went to the mall. Our first stop was Claire's where Lexie bought some more fake glasses and I got her a belt, bracelet, and sunglasses:)

Then, we were off to JC Penney were we decided to get Lexie a new pair of pjs.

Next, we went to Bath & Body Works for some scent bugs, hand soap, and lip gloss:) We really love that store!!

Finally, we went to Super One for some groceries. We decided to have cheeseburgers and waffle fries for dinner and we needed eggs, milk, and bread. Lexie talked me into letting her get a Reese's PB Cup:)

When we got home, she pulled my computer desk chair into the kitchen so she could do some artwork:)

Esky Homecoming

Well, first of all, we lost 14-28:( Bummer! It's always sad when they lose their homecoming game!! Anyway, it was raining off and on, so we skipped the parade & game:( I'm kinda bummed since we (Esky) only has 3 home games this year, the first one we missed as I had to work, the second was last night (rainy), and the last one is on the 22nd which we are going out of town for our anniversary which is the 21st. I'd really like to go to the game, but we are celebrating our 10-year anniversary, so it's kinda important. Oh, well, there's always next year's games, right?? We ended up staying at our friends house and visiting for the night which was fun:) Lexie was all decked out in her orange and black:) She made a GO ESKYMOS sign:) She's got spirit!! Brett was also in orange & black, but not intentionally:) I should've taken a picture - he was wearing his camo pants with a orange, black, and turquoise plaid shirt. Yep, he's a real fashion statement:) I tried to tell him that it didn't go together, but he said he didn't care - he likes his camo pants and he likes his plaid shirts:)

Well, so far this morning, the kids have been working on their chores - cleaning their rooms is their #1 priority!! They are looking pretty good now:) Brett's friend, Mikhail, is having a birthday party today at 3, so Brett needs to get as much as possible done by then:) It sounds like most of the kids from Lemmer are invited to his party-girls and all, but only 4 were invited to spend the night at the Comfort Inn & Suites - Brett, Brett B, Aiden, and Zack, Brett's best friends:) He's gonna have a ball!! I'm pretty sure I already blogged about this, so sorry:(

Lexie's doing pretty well - she doesn't mind doing chores:) She's filling in the chore list right now. She's even offering to vacuum:) Brett, on the other hand, doesn't always like to do chores - it depends on his mood.

Lexie wants to take another walk down the trail:) I told her we'd see as it's a weekend and there will probably be some 4-wheeler traffic down the trail which makes it dusty and hard to walk the dogs:(

Well, Lexie keeps talking to me, so it's hard to remember what I'm trying to type, so I guess I'll shout at ya later:)

So, I was just looking at the blog and I noticed that the picture of the deer is huge!! I'm not sure how that happened!! It was supposed to be the same as the others - now the deer is blurry:( Well, I guess I'll just leave it.

Apple Cheese Wraps

Ingredients:

1T butter
1/4 c packed brown sugar
3 c thinly sliced peeled tart apples
1/4 c golden raisins
1/2 t ground cinnamon
1/8 t ground nutmeg
1/2 t vanilla extract
5 flour tortillas (8'), warmed
1/3 c shredded reduced-fat cheddar cheese

Topping:

1/2 t sugar
dash ground cinnamon
10 T reduced-fat whipped cream

Directions:

In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium-low heat; stir in brown sugar until dissolved. Add the apples, raisins, cinnamon and nutmeg. Cook and stir over medium heat until apples are tender. Remove from the heat; stir in vanilla. Cool slightly.

Place each tortilla on a 12" square piece of foil. Top with about 1/4 c apple mixture; sprinkle with cheese. Fold in sides of tortilla and roll up. Wrap in foil.

Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes or until heated through. Combine sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over wraps. Serve warm with whipped topping. Yield: 5 servings

Nutrition: 302 calories, 8 g fat, 9 mg cholesterol, 313 mg sodium, 54 g carbohydrate, 2 g fiber, 6 g protein

I thought this sounded like a good snack for the kids - I'm just wondering about the cheese??? Oh, well, I'm gonna give it a whirl:)
