Hi, everyone:) I hope you all had an excellent Valentine's Day weekend:)
Well, as some of you already know, we took our annual trip to Green Bay for Disney on Ice:) The kids didn't have school on Friday, so Jason took 1/2 day of vacation & we got everything going. We left Escanaba around 2 p.m. The kids were very good on the ride. Naturally, Brett was playing his Nintendo DS, so you don't hardly notice he's around! Lexie wanted to stop at the squeaky cheese store (Sequin's in Peshtigo), but daddy told her she had to wait until we were on our way home. We arrived safely in Green Bay around 4. It sure is nice with the new highway:) The kids wanted to go right to the pool, of course:) They spent an hour or so in the water, then we got dressed for dinner. We went to the Old Country Buffet (I hate buffets - I think they are kinda gross!) Anyway, that's where we ended up Friday night. Lexie and I had salad which was pretty good. I had some good broasted chicken & mashed potatoes - that was all I could find edible - the muffins & cinnamon rolls were rock-hard:( Brett only liked the macaroni & cheese. Lexie pretty much only liked the salad. It was quite disapointing:( Anyway, we went to Toys R Us - kids weren't impressed at all!! Usually, they can't wait to go, but they couldn't find anything they wanted!!! Then we went to Fleet Farm which was better - we found a couple of things there:) Back to the hotel for more swimming & bed:)
Saturday morning, Lexie and I were up early - neither of us slept very well on the hard hotel matresses:( We took baths, then headed to the lobby for continental breakfast - yummy:) Lexie had Froot Loops, a donut, and juice. I had a donut, some mini blueberry muffins, and some juice:) Just something light because Lexie really wanted to go to Denny's. She had been talking about it for 2-3 weeks before we left:) Anyway, everyone is finally up & dressed & on our way to Denny's:) People are waiting to be seated when we get there:( Brett wasn't very happy about the smoke, but I assured him that we were sitting on the other side of the restaurant. He wasn't impressed with the lady with her daughter in the smoking section - he thought it was selfish of the lady to make her daughter sit over there, just so she could smoke!! We finally got seated (far from the smoking section) and the hostess took our drink orders. Lexie was sad that their menu had changed, so she couldn't get her alien pancakes that she got last year. She settled on a baseball pancake (I've got a pic!) and Brett had 3 mini blueberry pancakes. Jason had some kind of skillet (prime rib, I think). Wanda & I had scrambled eggs, meat, toast - our eggs weren't even hot:( Brett & my pancakes were over-cooked. Brett said he could use his as a nail file! Anyway, that's another meal that was disappointing! Lexie said she never wanted to go there again! Next, we went back to the hotel for 1/2 hour before heading to the Resch Center for Disney on Ice: Princess Classics. Brett & the guys were going "man shopping" while we enjoyed the ice show:) The ice show was great!!! Probably the best one we've ever seen:) I took lots of pics:)
After the ice show, I called Jason to let him know we were heading back to the hotel (Days Inn is within walking distance of Resch Center). They met us there & we headed to Bay Park Square - right for the Food Court since it was lunchtime:) Oh, our friends, the Christensens, came down for the day to do some shopping, so they met us at the food court where we all enjoyed some A&W!! Yummy! Best meal so far on our trip!! Then we split up - Phil, Jason, & dad where going "man shopping" while Chrysta, ma, and I took the kids - Brett, Lexie, and Tegan- shopping:) The girls had a ball shopping in a little girl store called Justice:) Lexie got some new jammies and slippers and headband (got more pics). Tegan got some clothes & a new swim suit. We also had to go to Build-a-Bear for some new duds for Madison, Lexie's pink monkey. I also talked Brett into getting a new outfit for Sgt. Scruff, his koala bear. He picked out a Darth Vader costume - he looks so cute in it!!! (got pic). Brett only wanted to go to Game Stop where he finally found the game he had been searching for: Lego Battles. We couldn't find it anywhere in Escanaba:( Needless to say, the kids had a great time at the mall:)
We all met back up & said goodbye to our friends & headed back to the hotel for 1/2 hour or so before heading out to find somewhere to eat dinner. Everywhere we went was packed!!! We finally ended up eating at the sports bar across the street from our hotel where the food was great:)Afterwards, we headed back across the street to the hotel, watched a little tv while our dinner was digested, then Jason & the kids went swimming again. I stayed in the room & read. Oh, peace & quiet:)
Sunday morning, we only had continental breakfast - so it was cereal & juice. We packed everything up & made our way to Appleton where we spent several hours at the Fox River Mall:) Once again, we went to Justice, Build-a-Bear, and Game Stop. We did find a really cool sporting goods store where the kids finally got to ride the escalator! They also had some shooting games (like an arcade which I have pics of) and Brett did very well:) Then we were heading home - with another stop at Fleet Farm in Green Bay:)
We stopped in Oconto to eat at Wayne's, then stopped at the squeaky cheese store in Peshtigo:) We got home around 8. We unpacked & got the kids to bed. I had to work at 5:30 in the morning, so I was trying to unwind before heading to bed. Kaylie had stayed with Uncle Jimmy, so Jason had to go pick them up - they sure were happy to see us:) Buddy & Bells were also happy to see us:) Too bad Bells is in heat again:( I have to call the vet later to set up an appointment for getting her spayed & declawed.
Well, that's our trip!! All in all, we had a great time:) The kids were very good:) Brett did ask why Lexie got so much stuff & I explained to him that he didn't pick anything out! I asked him if he liked lots of things, but he didn't care! He only wanted to look at the games & he got a couple. He got it. Now that we're all back to normal, I'm going to try to post some pics:) See ya all later:)
